Azure Cloud Admin

Job Description

WorkingVet is seeking to fill Azure Cloud Administrator positions in support of VA (Veterans Affairs) Cloud Operations and Migration Services (COMS) capability to provide operational input and support for the operations, maintenance, and refinement of VA’s Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment, execution support for migrating new and legacy VA applications and services to cloud computing and continuous improvement of VA’s IT infrastructure. The candidate will support our VA clients in their cloud operations to enhance, optimize, and maintain their computing capabilities across their technical landscape. This includes working with our VA system admins when supporting application teams, working with project teams to operate & maintain (O&M) VA applications on their cloud platform. The Cloud Administrator must have expertise with Microsoft Azure.

Key responsibilities:

•Utilize the VA Enterprise Cloud Operational Tools (VAECOT), CSP native portals and tools, and/or other VA TRM-approved tools necessary to assist VA applications in the VA’s enterprise cloud (VAECOT tools listed at the bottom)

•Utilize automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation, or similar

•Assist with upgrading, installing, and configure monitoring solution for Azure for Windows or Linux servers.

•Create and maintain gold images/scripts.

•Assist with reporting on current infrastructure status.

•Document each application’s production operations processes via a production operation manual (POM)

Must Have Qualifications:

•Minimum of six (6) years setting up, configuring and using Azure cloud operational tools to ensure service level agreements and performance targets are met, and continued compliance with policies, standards and guidelines.

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or technical discipline (4 years additional work experience might be considered in lieu of a degree).

•Current Azure certification or a recent passing exam (e.g. AZ-900, AZ-104)

•Experience in one or more of the VAECOT suite of tools, shown below.

•Able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust

•Must be a U.S. citizen or resident with 3 years in US residence.

Preferred Qualifications (soft skills, preferred, nice to have)

•Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position

•ITIL certification or ITIL knowledge

•Can provide technical support and OS-level remediations for Nessus scans.

•Some experience with network and/or systems administration in Linux (Red Hat) or Windows environments

•Some knowledge of security regulations, best practices, countermeasures, compliance standards and current threats.

•Experience creating technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and how-to guides.

•Helping application teams with system administration

•One or more Microsoft Azure cloud certifications

•Previous Federal Government experience preferably at VA

•Experience with at least one configuration technology including: Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

Monitoring and AIOps Cloud Engineer with ScienceLogic

Job Description

WorkingVet is seeking infrastructure monitoring and AIOps cloud engineers with expertise using ScienceLogic SL1 in support of the Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) on the Cloud Operations and Migration Services (COMS) program. The candidate will support our VA clients in their cloud operations to enhance, optimize, and maintain their application monitoring capabilities. The cloud administrator must have expertise with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Key responsibilities:

· Provide operations, maintenance, and end-to-end infrastructure support for ScienceLogic environments

· Setup, configuration, operations, and maintenance of ScienceLogic for new or existing systems and applications hosted in the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)

· Continuous configuration and tuning of VAEC Operational Tools (VAECOT) to proactively monitor the VAEC environments and CSP services to ensure all VAEC SLAs are met or exceeded, and performance and costs are optimized

· Assist with integration of SL1 with existing enterprise applications like Service Now and JIRA Workflow Manager

· Help to develop KPI's and operations dashboards

· Create customized SL1 user and admin guides for the VA

· Train end users on SL1 features

· Help explain to app teams the findings/optimizations reported by SL1

· Assist with SL1 infrastructure planning for future usage

· Must be available on-call for 24x7 operations of the SL1 production platform inside the VAEC

Must Have Qualifications:

· Minimum of six (6) years setting up, configuring and using AWS cloud operational tools to ensure service level agreements and performance targets are met, and continued compliance with policies, standards and guidelines.

· Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline OR AWS/Azure Certification (AWS Professional / Specialty Cert. OR Azure Expert / Advanced Cert.)

· Must have experience implementing shared services and migrating systems/applications; and managing and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment.

· Subject matter expertise with either AWS or Microsoft Azure.

· Able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust (High-Risk) Position

· Must be a U.S. citizen or must hold US Permanent Resident status with 3 years of US residence.

  • Previous Federal Government experience

  • Two or more years working with application monitoring systems, AIOps monitoring solutions, and security and compliance solutions

  • Active or prior clearance for at least a Public Trust (High-Risk) position

  • Ability to create deliverable quality technical documents and how-to guides and other deliverables

  • Experience with Change Management and Configuration Management practices, and leveraging the tools you are responsible for, work with and in support Operational Control (OC) and DevSecOps change and configuration management requirements

  • One or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications

  • Experience assisting with security assessments

  • Experience with Agile or DevOps frameworks

  • Experience with network and/or systems administration in Linux/Unix and/or Windows environments

  • Experience with at least one configuration technology such as: CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.

  • Troubleshooting & analytical skills, to include leveraging tools or root cause analysis

  • Strong understanding of application technologies and frameworks like Java, .NET, n-tiered apps, client-server apps, databases, etc.

  • Strong attention to detail with a keen analytical mind that sees beyond just what is in front of them

  • 2 years of experience building, managing, and deploying ScienceLogic solutions within Cloud and Hybrid (on-premise) environments

  • Ability to prioritize customer buildouts of SL1, to include custom configuration and the proper use and reuse of SL1 Templates

  • Understand the proper use and deployment of ScienceLogic PowerPacks into the working environments

  • Understanding of how to implement ScienceLogic within Containers and use of Microservices

  • One or more ScienceLogic certifications or training courses

  • Understanding of AIOps concepts and best practices

  • Familiarity with CMDB concepts and creating/maintaining a CMDB in SL1
